What to do in Mykonos in one day

Mykonos Shore Excursions

You are visiting Mykonos by Cruise Ship and wondering what you can do in such a limited time? If you are not taking any of the Mykonos Shore Excursions, here are few suggestions from locals on what you can do in Mykonos in one day:

1. Take a walk in Mykonos Town

Everyone should see Mykonos Town as it’s absolutely beautiful and is quaint with a typical Greek Island scenery. Take a walk in the cobblestone alleyways in Mykonos Town and find your way to a couple of “must see” attractions: Windmills, Little Venice and Paraportiani church. If you are lucky you might bump into the Town’s celebrity, Petros the Pelican. Do not expect to see a quiet Mykonos Town, especially not on a day when Cruise Ship arrives in Mykonos Port.

There are plenty of nice taverns and restaurants, as well as waterfront cafes if you wish to enjoy breakfast, lunch or just an “Ouzo with Mezze” by the sea.

If you are into shopping, then shopping in Mykonos Town can turn into a little adventure of exploration and discovery. Mykonos is a shopaholic’s wonderland, with trendy stores and boutiques and a huge variety of merchandise.

2. Visit a beach

Mykonos is very famous for its beaches and actually has some of the best beaches in Greece, especially on the south side. It’s a beach paradise whether you’re looking for swimming, sunbathing, beach parties, or water sports.

Beaches for couples and families: Ornos, Platis Yialos, Saint Stefanos

Party beaches: Paradise, Super Paradise, Paranga

Beaches with watersports: Psarou, Platis Yialos, Kalafatis, Super Paradise

3. Have lunch by the sea

Mykonos is a gastronomic paradise. There are so many places to eat with a wide food range it will blow you away. We highly recommend a meal by the sea, at the beach or in Mykonos Town.

Most of the beaches are bordered with traditional taverns and nice restaurants and some even have tables and chairs placed on the beach sand.

Mykonos Town’s waterfront is an ideal place as it has a dozen cafe-restaurants,  as well as the restaurants in Little Venice area. Feel free to check out their menus and prices before you sit down.
